Tottenham have been handed a massive boost ahead of the North London derby against Arsenal.
Spurs were quite busy in the recently concluded transfer window. They managed to add a lot of quality to their squad but they haven’t had the best of starts to the new season. Tottenham have only managed four points out of their first three league games.
Despite dominating the ball and creating more chances in their last outing against Newcastle United, the North London club ended up on the losing side. However, they can get things back on track with a win against arch-rivals Arsenal on Sunday.
According to a report from Football.London, Spurs have a massive boost ahead of the derby as the Gunners could be without as many as seven first-team players.
Declan Rice will be the biggest miss for Mikel Arteta’s team as the England international was controversially sent off in their 1-1 draw against Brighton last Saturday. Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are both out injured. Jurrien Timber could also miss out after being subbed off during the games against the Seagulls.
Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus is a major doubt as he is yet to feature for Arsenal this term. Summer signing Mikel Merino has also been sidelined with a shoulder injury and is expected to be out for a couple of months. Riccardo Calafiori picked up an injury during the international break and he could also be out from this big clash against Spurs.
The Gunners could be without as many as seven players but Arteta will hope it’s only four. With quite a few key players out, Tottenham will have the perfect opportunity to get the better of their arch-rivals and get their season back on track. They have been playing some quality football and the right result against one of the most dominant teams in the Premier League could help them relaunch themselves after the first international break of the new season.
