He is no better than Zaha and Troare. They are all waste of time. You want a manager to design a system to accommodate these flash in the pans? Time to take a serious look at your footballing IQ if you think he is a “special player” that warrants a carve out to accommodate his skills from what you saw yesterday. Callum Wilson is a special player that just cannot stay healthy. He is going to score 5 goals and then…..Superstar Zaha score about 9 goals on average and a few assists and one world beater and then…..Troare dribbles you to death and seem to forget when you hit the 18 yards box you cross or cut inside. He spend more time dribbling out of bound it is like a circus. You are a special poster if you think this guy with 2 confused legs is a special player.
Paratici’s appointment was only as logical as the previous Directors Of Football, which I believe originally began with David Pleat in the role. Yet one minor trophy in almost 23 years probably demonstrates that they generally stick to the brief set out by Levy. Like you say, if we were led to the likes of Fonseca, Gatusso and eventually Nuno, after initially making contact with Conte, then surely Levy wasn’t prepared to make it happen.
I believe you could be right, it was such a disaster with Nuno that Levy buckled. I’m still curious as to how they work together in the medium to long term, even with Paratici as middle man…
I always remembered how Clough used to make many of his players truly great until they left him, such as Birtles or Davenport. Sign of a great manager and I agree Conte has real magic about him. I hope the club have seen enough to back him from the first available opportunity.
Paratici helped bring in Nuno. I think panic and desperation forced Levy to go back to Conte and have to make a deal he clearly didn’t want to do in the summer. Thought the Super League was in the bag at that point, the deceitful little toad.
Spot on about footballlondon too.. Waste of time reading their stuff, plus Golds 50 minute you tube videos. They constantly embarrass themselves.

Reasons to be cheerful, part 3.. A brilliant album, some seriously funky numbers in there… Only one month in and already everyone is as excited as myself. Marvellous. I know fairydust doesn’t exist, but I’ve been banging on about Contedust. It’s real, it works, and Antonio has it in lorry loads.. We now have a great coach AND manager.. I think Conte is even better than Pep because he changes clubs so fast, often clubs that were struggling and way off the top.. Pep sorted a struggling City out to be fair, but with ludicrous spending. Conte has spent far less than Pep on average.. We have the best manager in the world in my opinion.

It’s about choosing a system that suits the players instead of forcing a style of play on them in which they don’t feel comfortable in, and that is what Mourinho did, but he also affected their confidence after a while. I’m not saying it was all down to Mourinho, I understand the approach he took but it failed. Now at least the players appear to be focused, gaining in confidence and believing in themselves again.
However it’s way too early to make predictions but progress is being made.
I agree, I couldn’t believe how unfit and under-trained they looked after Jose and Nuno’s tenures. Slightly ironic when the players got pelters for not putting in the effort, then they’re put on double sessions and hey-presto! 🤔
Since the loss in the C.L final (and even for well over a year before that) the squad has had to endure endless neglect, in so many different ways. Appointing someone with Conte’s cache and indeed ability, is the first time a logical football decision has been made, for well over three years…

I think it’s great the way Conte has quietly gone about his business. We all know the players we wanted out as soon as possible, but since he’s been with the squad there have been quite dramatic improvements in the performances of some of these players.
I would say Dier and Sanchez are looking more assured in the current system and there is slow improvement in Royal. He’ not the finished article yet,but Conte is having an effect.Skipp is looking more assured in his game, not that he was in danger.
I know we all got frustrated with certain players who looked lost under Mourinho and Nuno, but Conte seems to be proving to everybody what a very good manager he is.It can only be hoped that Levy realises he has a winner here and backs him accordingly.January could be interesting.
Well said mate 👏🏽 Totally agree apart from your description of Royale with Cheese as a potential carbuncle. Harsh but funny 😂 I actually think he’ll do good things under Conte. How nice is it to be going into the new year feeling excited about the rest of the season 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I really thought we were dead in the water this season but agree with you Cow that our prospects are now refreshed. Even the Top 3 are not entrenched. City look world-beaters one minute and brittle the next; Liverpool seem spineless when VanDijk and any of the CDMs are out; Chelsea have been wobbled by inferior teams and can’t seem to settle on their best 11 especially in midfield. It’s all on the table now for Spurs.
Agreed on all fronts. Conte is getting an attacking tune out of this lot when Jose couldn’t……or was reluctant to try (I am putting Nuno’s stint in to the darkest recesses of my memory bank, none of it counts. In 20 years I will argue that Nuno was never our manager!). I am excited by what Conte might do with players he wants, if Levy allows it.
Granted a 5 at the back has meant Reggie and Emerson can get more forward and join in (about time too), but we will have to be careful that we don’t expect too much of these two. I thought Reggie would become a top player, and maybe under Conte he will, but there is just something missing from him- he is a bit lightweight for me. He needs to get stronger and a bit nastier. Emerson is a defensive carbuncle in the making. Zaha was a grade A idiot yesterday and he should have roasted Emerson like at Selhurst Park. I am thankful for the idiocy though, I only hope more left sided attacking players repeat Zaha’s actions.
Under Jose I never felt the players looked fit. When the top teams covered more ground I wanted us to match that intensity. Under Jose I rarely saw it. Under Conte we went from 20th to 1st in distance covered per game within a few weeks. Fans obviously want quality, but that comes at a cost, so when that is missing (and my word it has been) we want passion and work rate. Never again do I want a repeat in ineptitude and lack of desire than when we played Arsenal. That is the game that I am judging Conte on,16 January cannot come soon enough. We are not as good as the top 3, although we should have beaten Liverpool, but the rest are as good/bad as us.
I am looking up. I tell you, this time next year we might have a team to be rightfully proud of.
Indeed. He has to be backed. I’m sure he will be now the finances are steady again.
We need a creative player, one that offers something different to the norm and he fits the bill perfectly thanks.

Great post. Agree wholeheartedly.

Paratici was the first logic. If it wasn’t for bringing him in then we may not even have Conte. Hitchen should have been demoted years ago.
