Tottenham free-agent target hints at his future while the race for Torino ace sees a growing list of suitors

The Tottenham Hotspur backline will be a crucial focus heading into the summer. Manager Antonio Conte runs a central defense of three, and both Cristian Romero and Eric Dier appear to be part of his plans for 2022-23, but an upgrade over Ben Davies might be in store.

Spurs have been linked to a couple of targets, one being Borussia Mönchengladbach center-back Matthias Ginter. The Germany international’s contract will expire in June, and the Premier League club is one of those eyeing the 28-year-old.

Ginter knows that he will have a plenty of options when he hits the market as a free agent, but doesn’t plan to drag out the negotiations with clubs that are interested. Nonetheless, he did say to Sport1 that people will need to be patient as he decides his future.

“It’s difficult to set a schedule, but I have no idea whether it will be in one, two or three weeks. Until then, you have to be patient,” Ginter said.

The Mönchengladbach defender isn’t the only target that Spurs have on their list of defenders. The north London club went shopping in Italy during the January transfer window.

So they might be doing that again this summer, considering it’s a market that both Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici and Conte know.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Torino center-back Gleison Bremer is one player Tottenham sees as a player who can fill their need on the backline. However, if the Brazilian is atop their target list, Spurs will face competition.

The Italian media outlet reports that A €30-million transfer could be in his future this summer, with Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund all having their eyes on the 25-year-old.
