Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on the Lecce midfielder Joan Gonzalez.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham like the 20-year-old midfielder and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the coming weeks. AC Milan are keen on the talented young midfielder as well.
The highly talented central midfielder joined the Italian club from Barcelona back in 2021 and he has established himself as a first-team player for them this season.
The 20-year-old has a goal and two assists to his name across all competitions this season and his performances seem to have caught the attention of the London club.
Spurs could certainly use a creative player in the middle of the park and Gonzalez could be a quality long-term acquisition for them. The midfielder has a contract with Lecce until the summer of 2027 and the Italian club will demand a fee of around €15 million for his services.
Spurs continue to follow the midfielder closely and it remains to be seen whether they decide to come forward with a concrete proposal in the near future. The reported asking price is certainly affordable for a club with Tottenham’s resources.
Although Gonzalez is might not be ready to make an immediate impact at Tottenham, he could prove to be a superb long-term investment for the Premier League side.
Playing alongside better players at the London club and working with a world-class manager like Antonio Conte could accelerate Gonzalez’s development and help him fulfill his potential.
