Tottenham flop will be like having a new signing next season claims pundit

Dele Alli will want to put the 2020/2021 season behind him as he looks to rebuild his career at Tottenham.

The Englishman was out of the first-team picture at the club under Jose Mourinho and started just two league games for the Portuguese manager.

He played more when Ryan Mason became the club’s manager, but he will write off the last campaign as a huge disappointment.

Despite appearing to be victimised by Mourinho last season, the Englishman said earlier in the summer that he doesn’t blame his former boss for his dip in form (Daily Mail).

The former MK Dons man is now expected to be back in the reckoning under Nuno Espirito Santo in the upcoming season.

Despite seeing a few minutes of play, he scored a stunning goal against Wolfsberger in the Europa League which has now earned a nomination for the UEFA Goal of the Season as reported on the Tottenham website.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny believes that goal shows his quality and backs him to return to top form next season.

“He can 100 per cent turn things around,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s come out and said that he doesn’t blame Mourinho for not being involved a lot last season.

“He needs to sort himself out but he’s acknowledged that. It might his preparation or his love for football that’s the issue.

“But if he thinks he can get that sorted out, which I’m sure he can, and he can get back to where he was three or four years ago then these flashes and the goals show he’s still got it.

“We all know what he can do. It’s just a matter of getting it back. He can be like a new signing for them.

“I’m sure it’ll be near the top of Nuno’s to-do list to get him back playing well and enjoying the game.”
