Tottenham Hotspur could make a move to sign the Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries before the January transfer window closes.
According to journalist Marco Barzaghi, Antonio Conte is demanding reinforcements from the club hierarchy after the humiliating defeat against London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.
Apparently, Tottenham were keen to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon but the Portuguese outfit are demanding the players release clause of €45 million to be paid. Spurs were hoping to sign him for a more reasonable price and pay the amount in installments.
It seems that the complications surrounding a move for the Spaniard has forced Tottenham to look at other alternatives.
Apparently, the agent of Denzel Dumfries is currently in London to negotiate a potential transfer and Tottenham could look to secure his services this month.
The Dutch international could be available for a fee of around €40-45 million.
The 26-year-old had an impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands and he has proven his quality in the Italian league as well.
Dumfries would be a major upgrade on players like Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal. The Dutch international would help Tottenham going forward and improve them defensively as well.
The Londoners need to Improve their squad in order to secure Champions League qualification and it remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for Dumfries across the line this month.
The Dutchman is at the peak of his career and he will want to prove himself in the Premier League. He has the quality to adapt to English football and make an immediate impact at Tottenham.
