Tottenham eyeing up a move for Bundesliga player to address problem position

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on the American defender Joe Scally.

A report from 90Min claims that the Premier League club scouted the 19-year-old right back on Friday when Borussia Monchengladbach played against Borussia Dortmund.

Scally has been a key player for Gladbach this season. He has established himself as a regular starter for the German club at a tender age and the Bundesliga outfit will not want to lose him anytime soon. He has started 15 Bundesliga games this season.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can bring them to the negotiating table with a lucrative offer.

Tottenham’s right-back problems are well-known. They signed Djed Spence during the summer transfer window but the former Middlesbrough defender has not been able to hold down a starting berth.

Spence has been linked with a loan move away from the club. Meanwhile, Emerson Royal has been in abysmal form this season, while Matt Doherty has been inconsistent.

It is evident that Antonio Conte needs reinforcements for the right back slot and Scally could be a quality long-term acquisition for them.

The 19-year-old is highly talented and someone like Antonio Conte could help him fulfil his tremendous potential. A move to Spurs could accelerate his development as he will be playing alongside better players and against better opposition in the Premier League.

However, he needs to play every week at this stage of his career and he should seek game-time assurances before changing clubs.
