Tottenham eyeing up a move for 64-year-old manager as Conte replacement

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 64-year-old is currently managing Lazio and it will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to move for him at the end of the season.

Antonio Conte’s long-term future remains in doubt because of his contract situation and the results are not going his way either. If Conte feels that he won’t be able to fulfill his ambitions at Spurs, he might not want to renew his deal with the London club.

Currently, his contract is due to expire in the summer and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Spurs made an impressive start to their league campaign but they has fizzled out and they are now struggling to get into the top four. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League, they might struggle to hold on to the likes of Conte and Harry Kane.

As per Il Messaggero, the Premier League club want the 64-year-old Lazio manager to replace Conte at the end of the season if things do not work out with the 53-year-old.

Sarri has managed in the Premier League with Chelsea and he helped the Blues win the Europa League in 2019. He is certainly good enough to manage Spurs and his arrival could be exciting for the fans.

As opposed to Conte, Sarri employs a free-flowing attacking system and Tottenham fans will enjoy his attractive brand of football.

That said, they must focus on finish the season in the top four first and it is fair to assume that their first priority will be to renew Conte’s deal.
