Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to open contract talks with defender Eric Dier.
The 29-year-old has been heavily criticised for his performances this season but he remains a useful squad player for the London club and Tottenham are hoping to extend his stay with a contract extension.
Meanwhile, the Premier League side has been linked with a number of defenders in recent months and it remains to be seen whether Conte can bring in a reliable defensive partner for Cristian Romero. The Argentine has been the only reliable defender at the club this season and Tottenham must look to bring in a quality partner for him at the end of the season.
As per 90min, Spurs are hoping to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.
The 23-year-old managed to impress against Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League group stages earlier this season.
The defender will be a free agent at the end of the season and Spurs can snap him up on a bargain.
The Londoners will have to bring in defensive reinforcements at the end of the season and the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet could be on their way out of the club. However, Antonio Conte cannot afford to rebuild his defensive unit completely in one window and he will have to retain some players.
Eric Dier has been a useful player for Tottenham over the years and he could continue to be an important squad member for the Londoners. The England international can operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a centre back and his versatility makes him an asset.
While the 29-year-old has not been at his best as a centre-back, he could still be very useful in the midfield. Also, he is one of the leaders in the Tottenham dressing room.
