Tottenham eye surprise move to sign Bayern Munich star who already has 10 goals this season

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

According to a report from 90 Min, the 33-year-old is on Tottenham’s radar along with Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Tottenham are overly reliant on Harry Kane for goals and they could do with another reliable goalscorer. Choupo-Moting has done well for the Bavarian giants this season and it will be interesting to see if Spurs can lure him away from the Bundesliga.

He has 10 goals and three assists in 15 appearances this season.

The 33-year-old has a contract with Bayern Munich until the end of the season and he could be available for a reasonable price in the January transfer window. The German club might look to cash in on him midway through the season instead of losing him for free in the summer.

Spurs are looking to end their trophy drought and they will need more quality and depth in their squad to compete on multiple fronts. The arrival of Choupo-Moting will allow them to rotate Kane and keep him fresh for important games.

Also, having two recognised goalscorers would allow Conte to switch things around tactically depending on the opposition.

Currently, the London club have to rely on Son Heung-Min as their other goalscorer. The South Korean is much better in the wide areas and a second striker.

The Londoners signed Richarlison in the summer but the Brazilian is not a prolific goalscorer either. It will be interesting to see how Choupo-Moting’s situation develops over the next few months.
