Tottenham expert John Wenham believes James Maddison’s return to action will be a “phenomenal” boost for the club.
The English midfielder has been sidelined with an ankle injury since November, missing 10 games during this period.
Maddison, who had a stellar start to his debut season with Spurs, contributing 3 goals and 6 assists in his first 11 appearances, sustained the injury in a match against Chelsea in November.
Postecoglou has felt the absence of Maddison’s goal contributions, and he would likely be thrilled to receive the news of his return.
Reliable Spurs’ insider and correspondent Paul O Keefe gave a positive update on the English international recently, claiming that he will be returning to full training next week.
And now Spurs expert John Wenham echoed similar sentiments and claimed that his return will come as a massive boost for Tottenham.
He also named James Maddison along with Micky van de Ven as two players who transform Spurs into a completely different prospect.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said:
“We’re talking about a man who was probably the Premier League’s player of the season up until his injury.
“He was contributing massively in every performance and every game in terms of his assists, goals and leadership, so to have him back will be phenomenal.
“If we can get Maddison back in ahead of the FA Cup clash with Manchester City and the league meeting with Brentford, that would be huge.
“Suddenly, we could be going into those games with almost a full-strength team, minus of course the three who are away on international duty.
“With Maddison and Micky van de Ven, we are a completely different prospect.
“It is easy to forget based on the past couple of months that we were blowing teams away in the first 10 games of the season when we had those two fit and firing.”
TBH Says:
The return of the club’s vice-captain would definitely provide a significant boost to Tottenham. We looked unstoppable in the first 10 games of the season when we had a fully fit starting XI.
And with us getting closer to getting our best XI back fit, we can only be optimistic about what we can hope to see from this Spurs side.
