Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro.
The Londoners have been trying to sign the player since the start of the month but their efforts have been in vain.
Apparently, the Portuguese outfit are holding out for the player’s €45 million (£39.5m) release clause and Tottenham are unlikely to offer that much.
According to a report from the Portuguese publication Record (h/t Sportwitness), Tottenham are now preparing a final offer for the 23-year-old defender.
It will be interesting to see if Sporting are prepared to sell him for a more reasonable price this month.
The Londoners are in desperate need of quality full-back with the likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty putting in disappointing performances on a weekly basis.
Porro could be an upgrade on both players and he has the ability to develop into a top-class full-back.
The 23-year-old has 2 goals and 10 assists to his name across all competitions and Antonio Conte could help him improve further.
Bringing in a quality attacking right-back could add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack and help them improve during the second half of the campaign. Porro can play as a right-sided winger as well.
Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League hang in the balance and they must look to bring in the right reinforcements this month if they want to finish in the top four.
