Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for the Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni in recent months.
The 23-year-old Italian international was linked with a move to the London club at the start of the season as well but he chose to stay at Inter Milan.
It seems that Tottenham have not given up on their pursuit of the talented centre-back and they are set to submit an offer for the player in the next few days.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Tottenham will offer Emerson Royal plus cash for the 23-year-old Italian defender.
Antonio Conte knows the player well from his time at Inter Milan and it is hardly a surprise that he is looking for a reunion. Bastoni is a prodigious young talent with the potential to develop into a world-class defender. Tottenham could certainly use someone like him to partner alongside Cristian Romero.
The Argentine international is the only reliable centre-back at the club right now with the likes of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet producing underwhelming displays this season.
Conte needs to strengthen his defensive unit and Bastoni would be a superb long-term acquisition.
The report from Calciomercatoweb claims that Tottenham’s offer is likely to be rejected. It will be interesting to see if Spurs can lure Bastoni away from Inter Milan in the coming months.
The young defender is likely to cost a premium and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
As for Emerson, the Brazilian right-back has been unconvincing this season and Tottenham are reportedly looking to bring in a quality full-back before the January window closes.
