Tottenham expected to move for £20m-rated defender after Solanke signing

By Saikat -

Tottenham could look to bring Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters back to the club before the end of the window.

The North London club have finally managed to sign a world-class striker as they have a full agreement in place with Bournemouth for the transfer of Dominic Solanke. While they have successfully bolstered their attack, Spurs could now shift their attention towards adding more quality to their backline. According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham could now make a move for Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 27-year-old right-back was a part of the North London club’s youth ranks back in the day. Things didn’t work out for him at Tottenham and he ended up joining Southampton in the winter of 2020. He has been an important part of the Saints’ first team ever since.

With just 12 months left on his deal, Walker-Peters has been linked with a move away from the club. While nothing concrete has happened so far, the English international could still be on the move before the end of the window as Tottenham are expected to make a move for his services.

Emerson Royal is all set to complete a move to AC Milan. With the Brazilian international leaving, Spurs could now shift their focus towards bringing Walker-Peters back to the club. He has been a consistent performer for the Saints and they feel he could be a great cover for Pedro Porro.

The 27-year-old’s versatility makes him an attractive option for Ange Postecoglou. Having come up the ranks at Tottenham, he will help them fulfil the homegrown quota. Southampton value him at around £20 million which might not be a problem for Spurs but it will be interesting to see if the player is ready to take on a backup role.
