Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has recently picked up a hamstring injury and the Dutch international will be sidelined for four to six weeks.

The 23-year-old central defender picked up the injury during the win over Manchester City in the League Cup. He has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club, and his absence will be a major blow. Tottenham are now desperate to sign a defender after the latest blow and they are reportedly “doing their homework” on multiple targets. According to Football Insider, Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov is a target for the Londoners.

The 20-year-old Uzbekistan international is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future. He could be a quality long-term investment for Tottenham if they can get the deal done. It will be interesting to see if the North London club decide to make a move for him in the coming weeks.

The young defender will certainly be attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League. Tottenham will be an attractive destination for him. He would get to compete in European football with them and push the trophies as well. It would be a major step up in his career.

Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential.

Tottenham need to add more quality and depth to their defensive unit. Currently, they have three reliable central defenders at their disposal – Van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin. Signing another central defender could sort out the defensive unit for the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Tottenham will be desperate to have a successful season. They will want to push for trophies and secure Champions League qualification. They will need to plug the gaps in their squad in order to finish the season strongly.
