Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Girona defender Miguel Gutierez.
The 22-year-old has been outstanding for the Spanish club this season and he has been a regular starter for them. His performances have attracted the attention of several clubs and a report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham are ‘determined’ to secure his signature.
The 22-year-old left-back is versatile enough to operate as a winger and he will help the North London club improve at both ends of the pitch. However, Tottenham already have a quality full-back in Destiny Udogie and it will be interesting to see how they accommodate Gutierrez in the starting lineup. L
They might have to get rid of players like Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon first.
There is no doubt that Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements, but they should look to aim for a central defender instead.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old defender has a €35 million release clause in his contract and any club hoping to sign him will have to pay up.
Gutierrez is a prodigious young talent with a big future ahead of him and he could develop into a key player for the North London club. He has the potential to justify the €35 million outlay as well. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on signing the defender as well.
Arsenal currently have Oleksandr Zinchenko as the only left-back at the club and the 22-year-old could compete with the Ukrainian international for the starting spot. As for Chelsea, they have Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, and Ian Maatsen at their disposal. Cucurella has been largely underwhelming since joining the club, and Maatsen is expected to move on in the near future.
