Tottenham dealt major blow as 13-goal target’s transfer to rivals is “90% done”

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.

According to Football Insider, the 22-year-old striker’s move to Chelsea is now “90% done” and the Blues have moved quickly to seal his signature.

The La Liga striker scored 13 goals across all competitions this past season and he could have been a quality option for Tottenham. Spurs have been overly dependent on Harry Kane for goals and they need someone to share the goalscoring burden with the England international.

The Tottenham striker clearly needs more help and support from his teammates. The London club must look to bring in the necessary reinforcements if they want to return to the Champions League and compete for trophies next season.

Jackson would have been a quality long-term investment. He has already shown his quality in the Spanish league and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Players like Son Heung-min and Richarlison were quite underwhelming this past season and Spurs must look to bring in another reliable goalscorer. It remains to be seen whether they move on to other targets now after facing disappointment in their pursuit of Jackson.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old will be hoping to make his mark in the Premier League with Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether the former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino can get the best out of him in the upcoming season.
