Tottenham dealt blow in their pursuit of 28-year-old attacker

Arsenal and Tottenham linked star Ivan Toney is all set to join the Saudi Pro League.

Ivan Toney’s future has been one of the biggest talking points since the start of the transfer window. The English international has been linked with most of the top clubs in the country but nothing concrete has happened so far. The interest in his services seems to have dried up and former football agent Jon Smith feels he is on his way to Saudi Arabia.

While speaking on CaughtOffside, the close friend of the Toney family said: “I’m pretty convinced now, after everything that I’m hearing, that Ivan Toney is on his way to Saudi Arabia,”

Toney had an exceptional 2022/23 campaign with Brentford as he scored 21 goals and bagged another five assists in his 35 outings. The Bees valued him at around £100 million back then. But, a lot has changed since as he was suspended because of illegal betting. Since returning to football at the start of the year, Toney has been determined to seal a move to a bigger club.

There has been interest in his services from Arsenal as well as Tottenham. The Gunners want a new number nine who can add more goals but it seems they might not sign a striker this summer. While Spurs were quietly working on a deal to sign the 28-year-old, they have already signed a new number nine in Dominic Solanke. Having spent a fortune on his transfer, they are unlikely to move in for another striker.

Other top clubs also wanted to sign the English international but it seems they were not ready to meet Brentford’s demands for a player who could be available for free in 12 months. Since no European club is willing to break the bank for Toney, he seems all set for a move to the Middle East, as clubs from that part of the world seem interested in adding more stars to their league.
