Tottenham dealt blow in their pursuit of 23-year-old Bundesliga ace

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the French defender Evan Ndicka.

According to reports in recent weeks, Tottenham and Newcastle United were hoping to sign the Bundesliga defender on a free transfer at the end of the season, but the 23-year-old has now agreed on a deal to join Premier League rivals Arsenal instead as per Il Romanista.

The 23-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Spurs were hoping to snap him up on a free transfer. He could’ve been a fantastic bargain for the London club, and it will be interesting to see who they turn their attention to now.

It is no secret that Spurs have to sign a quality defender in the upcoming windows and Ndicka would have been a quality partner for the Argentine international Cristian Romero at the heart of Antonio Conte’s defence.

The likes of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet have been quite inconsistent and Conte needs to bring in a reliable central defender soon.

Spurs will be hoping to challenge for the league title and win the domestic trophies. They will need to address the major weaknesses in the squad in order for that to happen and bringing in a quality centre-back and a creative midfielder should be at the top of their priority list.

The 23-year-old Bundesliga defender has shown his quality in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, and he will be hoping to establish himself as a key player for Arsenal in the Premier League now.

Ndicka is quite young and he is likely to improve further with coaching and game time. He could prove to be a major bargain for the Gunners in the long run.
