Tottenham dealt a blow with the reported amount of time Matt Doherty will miss due to his knee injury

Tottenham Hotspur is coming off an impressive win on the road at Villa Park against Aston Villa. The north London club came away with a 4-0 win, but the result did come with a cost when it comes to the squad depth.

Matt Doherty is out for the remainder of the season after rupturing his medial collateral ligament (MCL) during Spurs’ win over Aston Villa, per Sky Sports

Doherty walked off the pitch in the first half following a tackle from Matty Cash during the first half, but the 30-year-old is out for at least 12 weeks with the knee injury.

The injury couldn’t come at the worst time, considering Tottenham needs everyone available to make a push to finish in the top-four. Nonetheless, the focus shifts over to Emerson Royal, who has shared starts with Doherty. Meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon is likely to be his permanent replacement on the left.

Royal could change the opinions regarding his first year in north London if the 23-year-old plays well down the stretch and helps Spurs finish in the top four.
