Tottenham could move for 29-year-old Chelsea player

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

The 29-year-old Chelsea striker is currently out on loan at Inter Milan but he has had a disappointing season with the Italian side so far.

Lukaku will be expected to seal a permanent exit away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and a report from Calciomercatoweb claims that the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham could come forward with proposals for the Belgian international.

The 29-year-old was a key player for Antonio Conte when he won the league title with Inter Milan and it is no surprise that Tottenham are keeping tabs on him.

However, the report adds that any move would depend on whether Conte stays at Tottenham beyond this season.

The Italian manager will be a free agent in the summer and Tottenham have not managed to agree on a contract extension with him yet.

Losing a world-class manager like Conte would be a devastating blow for Tottenham and the English side must look to do everything in their power to convince him.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are crying out for a reliable goal scorer who can share the goal-scoring burden alongside Harry Kane.

Lukaku has not been at his best this season but the Belgian remains a top-quality player who can win games all on his own.

The opportunity to reunite with Conte will be a tempting proposition for the player and the Italian might be able to get the best out of the Belgium striker once again.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to do business with their arch-rivals at the end of the season.

Newcastle have an ambitious project as well and the Magpies could be an attractive idea for the player as well.
