Tottenham considering bringing back former player who left 4 years ago

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to reinforce their defensive line-up this summer by adding a versatile defender to their squad.

Reports suggest that Spurs are considering re-signing Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton. According to GiveMeSport sources, the North London club are exploring the potential return of their former player, who left for the Saints in 2020.

Spurs are eager to sign another right-back as cover for Pedro Porro. With Emerson Royal close to an exit, Spurs will be left with the Spaniard as the only available right-back option. Walker-Peters, who has emerged as a prime candidate, fits this need perfectly.

The report claims that the club are looking for a player who would prove the best value for someone who would not be a starter, as they are not willing to spend a big amount of money on a backup.

The 27-year-old defender is in the final year of his contract, which expires in June of the next year. With no contract extension in sight, his departure from Southampton appears likely.

Last season, he was a consistent performer at Southampton, starting 46 games in the Championship and contributing three goals and three assists.

His versatility is a notable asset, as he has played primarily as a right-back but has also been effective as a left-back on multiple occasions.

Walker-Peters’ ability to perform well on both flanks makes him an attractive option for Tottenham. His previous stint with the club adds to his appeal, offering familiarity and a seamless integration into the squad.

Considering his contract situation and the Spurs’ need for a reliable full-back, Walker-Peters presents a viable and cost-effective option for the Lilywhites.
