Tottenham chiefs will tell 25-year-old first-team ace he is free to leave

Emerson Royal could part ways with Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming transfer window.

Tottenham are set to undergo a rebuild in the summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his squad. It will result in quite a few departures and Emerson Royal could be one of them. According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Spurs chiefs are all set to inform the Brazilian full-back that he is free to find a new club.

Emerson joined the North London club from Barcelona in 2021 for £25.8 million. While has been an important first-team player over the years, he has fallen down the pecking order post the arrival of Postecoglou. He has been handed just over 1,300 minutes of first-team football in the 2023/24 season and the majority of those come towards the end following an injury to Destiny Udogie.

While he still has two years left on his deal at Tottenham, the club are ready to sanction his departure. They are looking to raise funds from his sale and use it to reinforce their team. Spurs are willing to let him leave for a fee of around £20 million and he could be one of the first players who ends up making a move away.

Despite not being at his best in the recent past, there is still interest in Emerson’s services. AC Milan and Saudi Arabian outfits are keen on having him in their squad. With club chiefs ready to inform the 25-year-old that he is free to leave, it will be interesting to see what his next destination will be.
