Tottenham have no plans to offer Gareth Bale a second season on loan at the club as he struggles to impress.
The Lilywhites secured the return of the Welshman on loan from Real Madrid in the last transfer window.
They needed him to use his experience to push the team on to the next level.
But he hasn’t shown the kind of form they expect from him, and his injury record in his short time in London hasn’t helped his cause.
The Times says that the former Southampton man wants more minutes of football, but overall he is happy to be at Tottenham.
However, he hasn’t given Tottenham enough reason to try to sign him permanently or to take him on loan again.
This latest development confirms Real Madrid’s worst fears since he started struggling in London.
AS reported earlier that Madrid had hoped that he would go on a fine run of form and that Spurs would have been impressed enough to keep him for another campaign.
But they have started accepting the fact that it will not happen and they will have to pay him around 40m euros in wages for the final season on his current deal.
Bale is one of the highest earners at Tottenham, and he simply has to perform better if he wants to stay.
