Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on signing the Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson.
A report from Calciomercato claims that Tottenham are ‘at the forefront’ of the transfer chase and they will face competition from London rivals West Ham United.
The 26-year-old Icelandic attacker has attracted the attention of top clubs with his performances and he will cost £26 million during the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to follow up on their interest with an official proposal to sign the player.
Gudmundsson has scored 12 goals across all competitions this season and he could prove to be a quality addition to the Tottenham attack. The 26-year-old has four assists to his name as well and he is versatile enough to operate it as a centre forward as well as a winger.
The North London outfit need more quality and depth in the final third in order to do well across multiple competitions. They are pushing for Champions League qualification and they will need more cutting age in the final third, especially when they are up against the top teams in Europe next season.
A move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for Gudmundsson and the Icelandic winger is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete proposal ahead of him.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham prepared to pay the asking price for him and get the deal done. The £26 million asking price is certainly affordable for the North London outfit and Gudmundsson could prove to be a bargain at that price.
