Tottenham man in talks with English side; a move away is likely to happen

Tottenham’s assistant manager, Chris Davies, may leave the club due to interest from a League One side.

Ange Postecoglou’s second in command, Davies has been in discussions with Birmingham City regarding their managerial position.

This isn’t the first time Davies has been considered for a head coach role.

Midway through last season, he was approached by Swansea City for a managerial spot but chose to remain with Spurs until the season concluded.

With the Premier League season now over, Football London reports that Ange Postecoglou has reportedly permitted Davies to engage in talks with Birmingham City, with talks currently ongoing.

The Blues will compete in EFL League One next season, the third tier of English football, following their relegation from the Championship.

Birmingham City ended the season with 50 points, finishing 22nd in the 24-team table.

The club experienced considerable managerial instability last season, starting with John Eustace, who was replaced by a brief stint under Manchester United’s staff.

Following poor results, Tony Mowbray took over but had to take medical leave, leading to interim manager Gary Rowett stepping in for the remainder of the season. Mowbray eventually resigned due to health issues.

Amid such turmoil, Birmingham hopes to secure Chris Davies to help the team regain its footing and aim for promotion back to the Championship.

Should Davies depart, Postecoglou will need to find a new assistant, potentially promoting from within his current staff to fill the role of assistant head coach.

Securing Davies would be a significant move for Birmingham, aiming to stabilise their management and improve their prospects for the upcoming season.
