Tottenham are now eyeing an ‘aggressive’ midfielder who impressed Jürgen Klopp – opinion

Tottenham has turned their attention to Inter Milan’s midfield maestro Nicolo Barella according to Italian publication Il Messaggero.

According to the report, Conte is looking to raid his former club for two players, defender Milan Skriniar and Nicolo Barella. Nicolo Barella is one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment and has been linked with clubs across Europe including Liverpool.

Calciomercatoweb.it reported in June that the English club was looking to offer Naby Keita to Inter in a player-plus-cash deal for Barella who Klopp has described as ‘a really good player’ who is ‘aggressive’, ‘technical’ and ‘can run for ages’.

This is not the first time Barella has been linked with a move to Spurs as he was also linked back in January with the Daily Mail reporting Conte’s keenness on signing him back then. Despite links, the Italian club will be in no pressure to sell him as he has a contract with the club that runs till 2024 and would only consider letting him go if a club comes in with a huge offer.

My opinion? There is no doubt that Barella would be an exceptional addition to Conte’s side as ‘he has all the things that you want from a midfield player, but it might not be wise to spend close to £80m on him when that is not the position that needs immediate addressing at the moment.

Especially considering we have just signed Yves Bissouma this summer. We would rather see the money being spent on a creative midfielder and another center-back.

I think we’re done transfer wise, only a few to leave. Skipp, Tanganga and Rodon with LoCelso and Wobblybelly out on loan again…

My opinion? Saying someone is “linked” with clubs, while providing no actual substance of what the supposed “link'” entails, suggests fantasy, delusion, or lies. It’s as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Skriniar, a Damiao for a new decade. How many years have we been hearing this? Since early in Jose’s time at least.

From what I have seen of the boy playing for Italy he looks class.

I know Italy is the area of expertise for Paratici and Conte, but how many Italians have actaually made it in the UK?You think of Zola,de Mateo,Vialli and perhaps Ravanelli, but the list isn’t long and they played in a previous era.

Perhaps this isn’t the best country to be looking in for our recruitment, particularly a LCB[not Italian] and AMF to get us to the next level.
