Tottenham admire 28-yr-old ace who is closing in on Premier League record

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.

A report from the talksport claims that the 28-year-old midfielder could be on his way out of the club if Southampton are relegated at the end of the season.

Apparently, the likes of Tottenham and West Ham have admired the player in the recent transfer windows and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to come forward with an offer for him.

The Londoners need to add more creativity from the central areas and the 28-year-old could prove to be an ideal addition.

Apart from being an excellent passer, Ward-Prowse will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack with his set-piece expertise.

The 28-year-old is undoubtedly the best free-kick taker in the Premier League and he is currently closing in on a Premier League record. Ward-Prowse has scored 17 free kicks in the Premier League so far and only David Beckham has scored more with 18.

The Southampton captain is at the peak of his career and he will probably feel that this is the right time to make a step up and challenge himself at a high level. If Tottenham manage to secure Champions League qualification, they could prove to be an attractive destination for players like Ward-Prowse. The Londoners have the finances to tempt Southampton as well.

Meanwhile, West Ham are currently fighting the relegation battle as well and it is unlikely that the Hammers will be a tempting option for the Southampton skipper next season.
