Tottenham adds 26-year-old player from bitter rival to their Romero Plan B

Tottenham will move for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma if they fail in their bid to land Cristian Romero this summer.

Romero remains their first choice as Fabio Paratici wants to be reunited with the Copa America winner he sold to Atalanta when he was still at Juventus.

The defender’s transfer is taking a while to get sorted and things can change quickly in the transfer window.

Because of this Tottenham is looking at alternative options to bring to north London if they cannot sign him.

The Sun says they will move for Kurt Zouma of Chelsea who has fallen down the pecking order at the West London side.

Thomas Tuchel has prioritised fielding other defenders at Stamford Bridge and will be content to allow the Frenchman to leave.

The report says he would be available for around £21.3m.

The 26-year-old has made 99 league appearances for Chelsea since he joined them in 2014.

During his time with them, he has won two Premier Leagues, one League cup and the Champions League.

These achievements will be a huge plus in the Tottenham dressing room.

However, the Lilywhites are still in talks with Atalanta over Romero and they remain hopeful of signing him.
