Tottenham ace ‘who was not very happy’ will not leave, situation has ‘changed radically’

Giovani Lo Celso was linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

However, the 27-year-old stayed at the club after an impressive preseason with the North London outfit. There were rumours that the newly appointed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is willing to give him first-team opportunities. However, things have not gone according to plan for the Argentine international in the first few weeks of the season and he has barely had any opportunities.

A report from Spanish publication SPORT claims that the midfielder ‘who was not very happy’ at the London club is now unlikely to leave in January either. Apparently, Postecoglou is ready to bet on the Argentine international and he is prepared to give him more minutes in the coming months. The situation has ‘changed radically’.

Lo Celso was reportedly a target for Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez is an admirer. However, it would take a substantial offer to lure him away from the Premier League club and Barcelona simply do not have the finances to get the deal done. The report has labelled his move to Barcelona as unfeasible and it will not happen in January.

It remains to be seen whether Lo Celso can be a useful player for Tottenham until the end of the season. He has shown his quality in the Spanish league with clubs like Villarreal and Real Betis. There is no doubt that he has the technical attributes to thrive in English football as well.

He is versatile enough to operate in the wide areas as well as the central attacking midfielder. He could prove to be a useful option for Tottenham, especially during rotation and injuries.
