Tottenham ace keen to leave club after 360 appearances

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham are ‘expected to let Eric Dier leave the club’ before the end of the transfer window.

Dier’s absence from the squad during Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Brentford has fueled speculation about his future.

As part of the Ange Postecoglou rebuild, Tottenham have been active in the transfer market, making several signings to reshape the team.

But they are not done yet as they are expected to sign a couple of more players before the window shuts, in particular another central defender.

The report claims that if Spurs do sign another defender or midfielder, it ‘would only push’ Eric Dier ‘further down the pecking order’ for Tottenham.

Dier did not have the best of seasons last campaign and came under a lot of criticism for his sub par performances prompting speculation about his place in the squad.

Ange Postecoglou’s emphasis on strengthening the defense aligns with Tottenham’s efforts to secure new defensive player.

Recent signings like Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips, along with reported interest in players like Perr Schuurs, Clement Lenglet and Edmond Tapsoba, shows Ange’s commitment to bolster the defense.

TBH Says:

Ange Postecoglou has been working on a summer rebuild signing players that suits his system and getting rid of those who do not fit into his plans.

The possible departure of Dier could be emblematic of the broader transformations occurring at Tottenham, as they aim to revitalise their squad under the fresh management.

A more decisive and ruthless approach towards surplus players is necessary, and perhaps it might be the right time to to part ways with Dier.
