Tottenham ace demands first-team assurance for next season or will leave this summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s newly signed defender Radu Dragusin may already be on his way out of the club this summer, with Napoli reportedly interested in acquiring the Romanian centre-back during the upcoming transfer window.

According to previous reports from Italian news outlet Il Mattino via Calcio Napoli, the Serie A giants, who previously attempted to sign Dragusin from Genoa but lost out to Spurs, are considering pursuing him again.

This renewed interest comes as Napoli seeks to bolster their defensive options.

The latest update from Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Dragusin is demanding assurances regarding his role at the club.

The Romanian international wants guarantees that he will be a starter next season.

If he doesn’t receive these assurances from Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, Dragusin could decide to leave.

Dragusin’s agent has previously indicated that if the former Juventus youth player is not likely to become a regular starter, they would explore other options.

Napoli, where he might get more consistent playing time, remains a viable alternative.

Tottenham clearly value Dragusin, as evidenced by their efforts to secure his signature over Bayern Munich.

However, the centre-back’s quest for regular first-team football could prompt a move if his expectations are not met.

While Postecoglou did start Dragusin in the last two league games of the season against Manchester City and Sheffield United, the Romanian might feel overshadowed by the established defensive duo of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

As the transfer window approaches, it will be interesting to see how Dragusin’s situation unfolds.

Will he stay with the Lilywhites and fight for his place, or will he return to Serie A to join Napoli? The upcoming weeks will provide clarity on whether his future lies in North London or Italy.
