Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the talented young Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye.
A report via Fichajes claims that Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation as well but Tottenham are now a ‘strong contender’ to sign the player.
The 19-year-old central defender has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2027 and he has a massive release clause in his contract. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the Spanish outfit to sell the young defender in the summer.
Faye has a €400 million release clause and her new club is likely to pay that kind of money for him. Barcelona will have to be reasonable with their demands for the move to go through.
Tottenham could certainly use more quality and depth in the defence and the 19-year-old would be a solid, long-term acquisition for them. The North London outfit have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players for the future.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need more quality in the site as well and the 19-year-old could be a future investment. The Gunners have an excellent track record when it comes to nurturing young players and the young defender could be tempted to join them.
Both clubs could be playing in the Champions League next season and they will be attractive destinations for players. If they can promise the 19-year-old ample first-team opportunities, the young defender could be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League.
