Tottenham £50m man could join PSG on Friday

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has emerged as a ‘surprise’ target for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

That is according to Daily Mail who claim that PSG ‘have asked about’ the player at each of the last three transfer windows and are now ‘considering another attempt’ to sign the French midfielder.

Ndombele spent the previous season on loan at Napoli, contributing to them winning the Serie A.

While Napoli was interested in securing his services on a permanent basis, the deal did not work out.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has previously indicated that Ndombele might not be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

He also mentioned interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, but no advanced talks have been reported yet.

Ndombele has also been reportedly eyed by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho who as per Calciomercato was interested in him as a replacement for Matic who completed his move to Rennes.

Ndombele joined Tottenham from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record fee of £63m. However, he has failed to live up to expectations and has failed to impress any of the managers who have been in charge of the club during his time there.

Given Ndombele’s struggles to adapt to English football and fully settle at Tottenham, a move away this summer could benefit all parties involved.

While Tottenham might not fully recover the initial transfer fee they spent on him, offloading him for any available amount could prove the optimal choice for the club. The funds generated from his sale could then be channeled back into bolstering the squad.
