Tottenham £10 million below asking price for midfielder but a swap deal could work

Tottenham has continued their pursuit of Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and a deal for his transfer appears to be getting closer and closer.

The Dane has told the south coast team that he will not be signing a new deal with them and that he wants to join a bigger team if an offer comes.

Sky Sports claims that Tottenham is being rivalled for his signature by Everton and the Toffees have already tabled a £19m bid for him.

Hojbjerg wants to join Spurs as they will be playing in Europe next season, but the Lilywhites have tabled just a £15m offer for his signature which is £10m lower than the £25m that the Saints want, but a deal can still be reached.

Tottenham’s Kyle Walker-Peters has been on loan at Southampton since the start of the year and the right-back has impressed enough to make the Saints want to keep him with them permanently.

The Sun is now reporting that the Lilywhites are looking to include a permanent move the other way for Walker-Peters as a sweetener in the deal.

This should make the deal happen, but it depends on how much Tottenham and Southampton value the right back.

Jose Mourinho plans to make additions to his team ahead of next season, and Hojbjerg will be a top one.
