“top of their wanted list” – Spurs are wasting no time and have already started working towards signing ‘dominant defender’

Tottenham Hotspur are wasting no time in their pursuit of a new centre-back.

According to Daily Mail, the club’s recruitment staff has already started working towards signing a “dominant defender” in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report states that a top-class centre-back is at the “top of their wanted list”.

Clement Lenglet, who was signed on loan from Barcelona in January, is not expected to be signed on a permanent deal and will return to his parent club at the end of the season. As a result, Tottenham will need to look elsewhere for a new centre-back.

There are several names being linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.

Tottenham will be looking to bring in a world class defender to strengthen their backline and boost their chances of success in the upcoming season.

In January, Tottenham signed Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon to upgrade their right wing-back position. The deal was signed on an initial £5m loan, with an obligation to buy clause for £39m.

Another signing in January was Arnaut Danjuma, who joined to address the attacking injury crisis.

The Dutchman made a dream start to his Tottenham career, scoring on his debut against Preston North End.

These two signings have gone a long way in addressing the needs of the Tottenham side, but it seems the club is not stopping there, as they continue their pursuit of a new centre-back as they are determined to strengthen their side for the upcoming season.
