Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old right-back is on the top of their list but the London club will have to shell out €45 million in order to sign him this month.
The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for Sporting Lisbon and he has 10 assists across all competitions. Antonio Conte is in desperate need of a quality wing-back and the Spaniard could prove to be an exceptional long-term acquisition.
There is no doubt that the defender has the potential to justify the reported asking price in the long run but it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is willing to break the bank for his services.
The player has a €45m release clause and Sporting Lisbon are not prepared to sell him for less than that.

It’s difficult deal in January as Sporting have been very clear: €45m release clause or no way.

Conte has had to use the likes of Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence as his right-backs this season and all three players have been underwhelming. Porro is likely to be an upgrade on all three players and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the signing across the line.
The Italian manager’s system is heavily dependent on attacking full-backs and Porro could be a key player for the London club during the second half of the season.
Spurs are hoping to secure Champions League qualification and finish in the top four this season. Bringing in an influential player like Porro in January will only improve their chances of finishing in the top four.
