Toby Alderweireld Analysis vs Everton

The much-heralded return of the fanbases’ favourite Belgian was a washout in the main, Football teams with bad defences don’t get very far, which is why Spurs are pretty much treading water at the business end of the season. Disgrace barely covers it – and please make no mistake – these are individual errors we are discussing.

Long passes

There was a time when Toby was our long pass specialist, in last night’s game we got pot luck as only 3 out of 9 went where they were supposed to.

Aerial duels

Aerial duels was another black spot, with our 6ft plus Belgian didn’t win a single header.

Losses/own half

We covered the losses earlier, but here were all 12 occasions for you, which included 5 incidents that occurred in his own half.

Toby was a better player than this.

I’m scratching around trying to think of who might be ‘suitable’. Also because Norwich have just won promotion with Skipp as a key figure in the team. He seems like a good guy too.

All players are human and even world class have loss of form. Even the likes of Messi.. I would still want Toby at the back against City in the final… Its a real shame Rodon can’t play too though.

He didn’t have a great game you’re right. Neither did Reggy on the other side defending. Neither did Tanguy, Pierre, Coco, Dier… Sissoko was no help when he came on… Nobody apart from Kane, Lloris and Rodon played well….. At least heads didn’t drop, and we fought back after being 2-1 down..

I didn’t feel Toby was so poor last night that he deserves a special mention. Take a look at Dier and Sissoko if you want to see what disastrous distribution is all about. The fact that Mourinho keeps picking these players has made me lose any belief I might have had that he can take us where we need to go. Mourinho started with a smile and a more relaxed attitude but the ENIC/ Levy axis and the general stench that is THFC has wiped that off his face and he has spiraled down again to where he ended up at Man Utd and Chelsea but a lot quicker.

Thats fair enough to an extent regards wing back play, but they are still required to tuck in, and defend which he failed to do… his most telling contribution all game was a suicidal pass to PEH, ending in a booking for the dane, after what 6-7 minutes.

We played a 343. So Aurier and Reggy were often not there. If either of those two are forward then either a CB or CDM has to cover.

I don’t see singling out a player 1 or 2 games does any good for the overall season when you have in the lineup still players who were culprits most of the games we played in the season let’s say he was crap Toby last night does that fixes Dier Sissoko to mention some the crap they were the whole season and still being selected what about Ndombele the most expensive Spurs player lost possession18 times vs Everton last night should we say he is a crap player or judge his performance of the whole season we should put things in their perspective I guess Jose will be judged end of the season starting next Sunday before that it is his responsibility to make his season successful or to make his downfall it is common sense we can’t sack 11 players so it is up to Jose to make it work or give up.

With the Norwich boss be such a bad shout? Looks to have done wonders with Skippy.

Plus he has Aurrier outside of him who was nearly always out of position…if Sanchez was playing any forward passes of more than 10 yards would of been to the opponent… I reckon had Japhet played at right back yesterday Toby would have been .much better.

I thought Toby nearly scored with a header from an aerial duel?
