Time Bomb: 3 First Team Stars Demanding More Than Just A New Stadium

A source close to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club tells the Harry Hotspur blog that a number of senior players are waiting to see what unfolds in terms of transfer spend before deciding their own footballing futures.

Which in isolation is hardly breaking news.

Context however is always king.

Any normal person would wish to believe that the very life-force of a football team (senior players) would be completely ‘on message’ at this extremely late stage in proceedings.

Sadly, this isn’t the case.

Football really isn’t a complicated business – being an investment company is however an immensely complex.

Toby’s expires in 2019.

If you want to provoke me, if you’re really that dumb, I can ably share with you what a hugely important player he’s been all season.

Jan’s the same.

And yet he’s not agreed to golden handcuffs either.

Christian’s current deal runs out in 2020.

Yet all we are fed is a mumbled talk of an impasse in negotiations.

Spurs the football club are at a very dangerous crossroads.

The full extent of the danger was heralded very clearly to all concerned when Kyle Walker quit.

Compounded by Danny Rose also going rogue, despite the incredibly bright future pitch from all at ENIC.

Pause.

Did Danny Rose and Kyle Walker ever strike you as the shiniest pennies in the draw?

No.

So their desire to bail was clearly more than troubling.

The Harry Hotspur blog source believes that key players are still waiting before they decide to commit – which is frankly bizarre.

What’s the counter argument?

There simply isn’t one – or they would have eagerly agreed new deals.

Or were the dumb dumbs not championing contract extensions up until…

…they became few and far between?

Bottom line?

Players, like clear thinking fans, are impervious to the money being troweled into the stadium.

They are all about the intentions of the club.
