This summer could define whether Tottenham is a top-six club or a selling club.

Every player has a price tag, even Lionel Messi and in a pandemic when finances are so precarious, that has never been truer.

Under normal circumstances, one could say that Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are untouchable but I doubt there are many Spurs fans that feel that today.

Daniel Levy knows the blowback that will come his way if Kane is sold but he also knows that he cannot turn down a £200 million offer from a club like Man City, especially if the England captain indicates his desire to leave.

If one accepts that Kane could be sold this summer then the logical conclusion has to be that every single Tottenham player could also be sold. In better words, there is no untouchable player at the club.

Would it be a surprise to see Matt Doherty sold or Gareth Bale sent back to Spain. What about Pierre Emile Hojbjerg? What if Man Utd came in with a £80 million bid for him, would Levy say no?

Son would be sold for a tasty fee simply because of his contract situation. I could go on, I could pick on other new signings or fan favourites but as things stand today, absolutely no one is certain to stay at the Tottenham stadium come the summer.

I know that can be said about most players at most clubs but in the real world, certain players cannot be sold for fear of the backlash it would generate. They are the untouchables and sadly, Tottenham does not have any.

Unless ridiculous fees are offered up then the chances of Man Utd selling Bruno have to be close to zero, Man City with say Phil Foden, Arsenal with Bukayo Saka, Liverpool with Trent Alexander and so on.

On paper every player has a price tag, in reality, almost all elite clubs have players that are priceless and there is an argument that you cannot be classed as an elite club unless you have players that come into that category.

Tottenham should have at least two players like that, however, it could well be that it is those two players that end up being sold in the summer.

Not sure that would classify us as a big six club. It would certainly see us branded a selling club.
