Aurier to PSG appears to be the transfer story of the day with various outlets including FootMercato speculating that the Ivorian could be ready to hotfoot it to Paris and link up with his one-time gaffer, your friend, and mine, Mauricio Pochettino.
This strikes me as an ambitious claim, given that it was under Poch that Aurier made some of his greatest blooper reel moments. That said, the Argentine will be aware that the 28-year-old has settled down and improved enormously since his early ‘can’t take a throw in’ days.
The real giveaway within the Foot Mercato piece is that Tottenham are supposedly looking for just €12million for Serge strikes me as perhaps a little under what one might expect from a keen negotiator such as Daniel Levy.
Aurier has made no secret about his desire to return to PSG at some stage, and he’s clearly not getting any younger. As per a point I made in an earlier piece about Sanchez, it’s all well and good discussing these sales, they are all quite plausible, but what is the actual plan for our back four? Is there a plan?

Doherty would be no good in a 26!
Levy needs to sack Jose NOW
Why who is homegrown? Not dier he might have played for England but he is not classed as homegrown spent his early days in Switzerland or Portugal.
Home grown players will only go at a premium and if e get a home grown replacement.
No levy won’t. He’ll replace him with better. Levy this levy that. We ain’t at the broke old lane anymore. Let it go
Jose gave him a fresh contact about 8 months ago mate…
Although the squad needs fresh blood, team that played against Arsenal I can find little fault with in terms of personnel. Doherty was terrible but he’s a Premiership wingback and a Championship level fullback. Jose messed up there, Doherty is no good in s four…
The idea that Sanchez cannot be revitalized into a fully functioning Premiership defender is without any foundation to me.
We haven’t been playing well as a team, constantly digging out fully blown internationals as the root cause is boring. The coaches need to earn their corn…
This can only be a financial decision as there are one or two in the queue ahead of Sanchez for the chop. Levy will will sell for £40m and replace him with some pup for £20m who will be required to learn on the job.
Aurier has cost us more games since he signed than both of those put together. Not recently though, he’s been better.
What concerns me is why is dier not mentioned if we are talking defenders who cost us games. At the moment sanchez has improved not much but its an improvement. Dier needs to go.
