“They will try to make a deal” – Sky Sports man makes Tottenham transfer claim as deadline day approaches

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon might be nearing an exit, with a potential move to Barcelona before the transfer window closes.

According to the journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Spurs is prioritizing player sales as the transfer deadline approaches, and Reguilon is one of the players likely to depart.

Despite arriving at Tottenham with high expectations, Reguilon has struggled to become a mainstay in the team, with his time in North London hindered by injuries and loan spells.

Sheth noted that while Barcelona is interested in acquiring Reguilon, the deal will likely hinge on the financial terms. La Liga club may seek to structure the transfer in a way that fits within their budget, while Spurs is aiming for a permanent sale, as the defender does not feature in manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the upcoming season.

Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Sheth remarked:

“Yeah, potentially. I mean, whenever I hear that Barcelona are in for a player it’s always with a pinch of salt. They’re happy to let Ilkay Gundogan leave, because they’re wanting to reduce the wage bill, but also because they want to register Dani Olmo.

“With regards to Reguilon, they will try to do a deal on their terms rather than on Tottenham’s terms. Tottenham want to make a sale, that is 100% the case. Can Barcelona purchase him? We know he won’t cost that much, Barcelona will be well aware that he is a player Tottenham want to sell.”

Reguilon, now in the final year of his contract, has made 67 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing two goals and eight assists. However, his overall impact has been limited, and it appears both the player and the club are prepared for a fresh start.

As the transfer window edges closer to closing, Tottenham supporters will be keeping a close eye on developments, eager to see if Reguilon completes a move to Barcelona.

Such a transfer would not only mark the end of his tenure at Spurs but also allow the club to refocus its efforts on players who align with Postecoglou’s strategic vision for the future.
