“They might not admit it publicly” Pundit reckons Conte has told Spurs who he wants

Danny Mills insists Antonio Conte must have already told Tottenham the player he wants in terms of transfer targets.

The Italian gaffer has just been hired as the Tottenham boss and he inherited a squad of quality but underperforming players.

He could choose to get the best out of the stars he has at his disposal, but question marks remain over their ability to win trophies and take the club to the next level.

The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min remain two of the best players in England, but they haven’t been in fine form recently.

The two of them alone cannot help Spurs achieve their aims and that will see Conte bring in a few players of his own.

Former Man City defender, Mills is convinced that Conte must have spoken to the Lilywhites about who he would sign before he took the job.

“They must have had [transfer] chats, they must have had talks about what is next, what comes next,” Mills told Football Insider.

“No manager in his right mind would surely go into the job without talking about potential transfer targets and how much money is going to be available.

“I’d be very, very surprised if they hadn’t had those conversations.

“They might not admit it publicly, but I would be incredibly surprised if they hadn’t had those discussions.”

Spurs have splashed the cash in recent transfer windows and Conte may have been promised that strengthening the squad would be a continuous process before taking the Spurs’ job.

The Italian will use the next few months before the transfer window reopens to determine the players he needs to replace.
