“They deserve massive praise” pundit hails Spurs and others for their role in new Premier League development

Noel Whelan has hailed Tottenham after the Lilywhites were announced as one of the clubs that would trial safe standing in the Premier League from the new year.

Spurs have one of the best stadiums in the world and have led the way in many initiatives and this latest one has impressed former Leeds United man, Whelan.

He tells Football Insider:

“They deserve massive praise for bringing about such a positive change,”

“There’s that element of risk and danger, both physically and with the financial outlay to get this safe standing introduced.

“They’re trying to bring back that atmosphere, and I think that’s great – I love that.

“You do worry about the past and hope it does work out because I think it adds an extra element to the atmosphere, there’s no doubt about that.

“Great credit to the clubs who have agreed to trial this, and fingers crossed it is a success – because everyone wants to see standing back at football stadiums.”

The Boy Hotspur Say

The safe standing could increase the number of fans at matches and that would also ensure the atmosphere is even noisier and more electric.

Spurs fans have supported their club through thick and thin and it has entered a new era with the appointment of Antonio Conte as its manager.

The Italian is very intense and very passionate, attributes that football fans love.

The Lilywhites will hope the team can soak in the atmosphere with more fans now expected in the stadiums and bring trophies back to the Tottenham Stadium.

Spurs first home match of the new year would be on the 16th of January against Arsenal and the best gift the team can give to the fans would be a solid win against the Gunners.
