“They are all over the place” Pundit suggests that Spurs midfielders weren’t interested in positioning against Marine

Tottenham strolled to a 5-0 win over Marine in the FA Cup yesterday in one of the most one-sided games that they will ever play.

The 8th tier side had reached the stage by beating some teams above them in the English football pyramid, but Tottenham wasn’t going to give them the privilege of causing an unlikely upset.

Carlos Vinicius netted a first-half hat trick as Spurs went on to score two more goals to finish the game.

Dele Alli and Gedson Fernandes earned a return to the team’s starting XI for the match, having been sidelined at the club for much of the season.

Alli has been working his way back into Tottenham’s Premier League team, and he gave a good account of himself in the match.

However, Dion Dublin still felt that he and his fellow midfielders, on the night – Fernandes and Moussa Sissoko, were very passive in their play.

He said that the Marine players had never played against opponents of that quality and the way the Spurs midfielders played made it hard for Marine to track them.

“They have never obviously come across quality like this,” said Dublin on BBC One.

“Sissoko, Gedson and Dele Alli, they aren’t really playing in any positions. They are all over the place. These Marine players won’t know where to look and who to mark.”
