“These little mistakes just kept giving them hope” Pundit joins in the Sanchez bashing

Davinson Sanchez has been slammed for his mistake-ridden performances for Tottenham after their 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

The Colombian has been in and out of Tottenham’s starting XI in this campaign and that is partly because he always looks like he has a mistake in him.

The former Ajax centre back can be a rock at the back on his day, but he is also one player that is one mistake away from causing problems for his team.

Former Premier League attacker, Noel Whelan, says the defender has been in poor form in recent games and says the team concedes silly goals when he is playing for them.

He adds that there is a very thin margin between keeping a clean sheet and conceding a goal and Sanchez seems to struggle to keep mistakes out of his game.

He reckons that Spurs could easily have beaten Newcastle United 2-1, but the minor mistakes from Sanchez gave the Magpies hope of a comeback.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “Sanchez hasn’t looked great for a while now.

“We’re talking about fine margins and you look back on goals they concede when he’s in the side and it’s always little mistakes that cost them.

“The next goal at 2-1 up against Newcastle would have killed them off but these little mistakes just kept giving them hope.

“Jose Mourinho will have been very disappointed to have kept giving Newcastle that hope. That’s not what you need when you’re meant to be going for Europe, is it?

“He’ll be tearing his hair out when he watches the goals they conceded. Schoolboy mistakes, especially from Sanchez. Shocking stuff.”
