Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that he does not expect any of the injured players to return back to action this year.

Spurs are going through an injury crisis at the moment which has seen several key players including James Maddison and Micky van de Ven miss out with long-term injuries.

Both these players picked up injuries against Chelsea, Maddison hurting his ankle while the Dutch defender his hamstring. The expected dates for the return is said to be between January and February.

The Australian was speaking to the press ahead of the big game against Newcastle on Sunday. Giving an update on the squad and the injuries, he confirmed that Pape Matar Sarr and Richarlison are back from their injuries but added that he does not expect any other of their injured players to return before the new year.

He told reporters (via London World):

“No, that’s it. Obviously, we got Pape a few minutes last night and I understand he and Richy came through ok but there won’t be anyone else coming back between now and the new year.”

The depleted squad has resulted in Spurs struggling on the pitch. They are now without a win in their last five games, losing four of them.
