“The time has come” – Tottenham attacker confirms he is leaving the club with a heartfelt note on Instagram

Tottenham Hotspur’s young talent, Romaine Mundle, has confirmed he is leaving the club this summer.

The news broke yesterday when renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Mundle had decided to join Belgian side Standard Liege upon the expiration of his contract with Tottenham on July 1st, 2023.

According to Romano, the 20-year-old winger is set to sign a four-year deal with Standard Liege, keeping him at the club until June 2027.

Mundle himself has now confirmed the move, ending his 15-year association with his boyhood club.

Taking to Instagram, Mundle expressed his gratitude and bid farewell to Tottenham. He wrote:

“After an incredible 15 years at my boyhood club, the time has come to close this chapter. I am eternally grateful to everyone that has supported me throughout my journey at Tottenham; from the coaches and club staff to my fantastic teammates. Thank you for everything @spursofficial, and I wish the club every success in the future!”

Mundle’s decision to join Standard Liege follows the recent departure of Yaya Toure, who left his role as the U16s coach at Tottenham to become the assistant manager at the Belgian club. Despite interest from German clubs such as Frankfurt and Koln, Mundle opted to follow Toure’s path to Belgium.

This past season he made 33 appearances in all competitions for the U21s side scoring 8 goals and assisting 6.

He has been at the club since his childhood and was among the highly rated youngsters in the academy. He worked his way up through different levels and his impressive performances even earned him a call to Tottenham’s first team squad last season, although he never made an appearance.
