The risk of losing Kane is real and no one can moan if he leaves

By Bruce Grove -

Harry Kane is world-class, he is the best player in the Premier League and in some quarters, the best in the world and he knows how good he is.

Kane is fully aware of his value and he has a family to think of once he hangs up his boots, the idea that he will remain in north London for sentimentality reasons is for the birds, he is ambitious, be assured of that.

He will want to secure his legacy and financial future but most importantly, he will want to be a winner, most sportsmen do and he is no different.

Can he achieve his career goals at Tottenham? Doubtful is the most generous word I can think of.

We all know that Daniel Levy will drive a hard bargain and so on, we have heard all the stories but even Levy knows that if a player comes to him and demands to leave, even with a long contract, he will have to succumb at some point, he will have little choice, no one wants an unhappy player, it is counterproductive.

Tottenham does not look like winners and the prospects are gloomy. Levy is unlikely to splash the cash overhauling the squad in the summer and even if he did begin the process, how long would it take? How long will a soon to be 28-year-old wait?

Time is not really on Kane’s side, not to start picking up football’s biggest club honours and if the England captain waits much longer, the opportunity may pass him by and again, Kane will know this.

I am not sure that the Carabao Cup will be enough without Champions League football and I cannot say hand on heart that if Spurs do somehow beat Man City and end the season in the top-four if that will be enough either.

The risks are in abundance for Tottenham if they carry on performing as they are, missing out on top-four would be very costly, that will affect recruitment but losing Kane could be a whole lot worse, who knows when we will get another player like him playing for us.

If Kane does leave, can anyone really blame him? I cannot, he has not let the club down at all, not once, but they are letting him down time and again and there will come a point I am sure when he says, enough is enough, goodbye.

I kept on saying that and some fans don’t like it to hear that, well sometimes you have to face the reality and be realistic not carried away with your emotions Kane has done what he can for the team and Levy will never back the team to win anything can you blame Kane then I’m not cheers

There are virtually no circumstances, under which I can see Kane being at Spurs next season. As some have already said, it’s quite amazing that he didn’t leave already in the last 2 years.
If I were him; and if they were keen, I would opt for City. He could win every honour going, at club level; and still break Shearer’s record in the process. No brainer, in my opinion.

He was a top manager at the right clubs for him.

When you are at the best clubs in that particular league with a lot of spending power it does make your job a lot easier.

In Spain, ordinarily only Real or Barcelona win the league, he managed Real.

In Italy the biggest clubs are Inter, Juve and AC, he managed Inter.

In England he managed Chelsea with the Russian money.

Of course you still need to win the games and he did a great job, but those scenarios it is much easier to compete and be successful.

Despite the lack of silverware, Poch raised expectations by making a silk purse from a sows ear. Maureen won’t do that and has only been successful buying the finished articles. He is good at that though.

Totally agree. He was always the wrong appointment for Spurs for so many reasons.

The main ones being:-

Levy
Negative dull football
The Managers recent history

In my opinion this was always going to end one way, I am amazed that there are so many that are blinded by ancient history as opposed to recent history.

He’s loyal and an ultimate professional. As a lifelong Spurs fan, it breaks my heart we haven’t built a great team around him. Levy is a vile human being and the farcical claim to be a fan makes my contempt for him even greater.

I can’t stand Maureen but in fairness to him, he had no chance under Levy. Another one will bite the dust but the man with a proven record of underinvestment in the team, pathetic recruitment when he does spend and a world-record debt the club didn’t need still remains at the helm.

Couldn’t agree more. ENIC are what the title says. They have got it massively wrong and will be taking any event to keep their money coming in despite the massive debt the6 have mired Spurs in. Good players won’t come especially if Kane and Son aren’t there

Let’s not pretend Kane isn’t financially sorted for life anyway. It will be silverware he moves for. Something he will never get where he is now.

* Note: This seasons league cup doesn’t count as silverware on account of it being a farce of a competition this season.
The buy in the opening round was very odd, after Colchester Levy was probably mopping his brow but there were other clubs that week who had (fake) positives and played. Orient were stitched right up.

To go, he’d need to put in a transfer request – will he do that? What’s he to left on his contact,3 years? He’s stuck here for 2 more then & at that point, he’d have slowed down & not many teams will want him. As for he’ll want to secure his financial future, he’s done that already & probably has millions in the bank, unless he’s been taking greed lessons from Bale. He’ll be priced out of the market & won’t be able to go anywhere.

I don’t know how much relevance this has but I wonder how much being the family man with his partner and 3 kiddies means to Harry, would uprooting his family life to go somewhere unknown whether it’s Manchester or abroad be too much for him ?
He has ambition but he seems perfectly happy with the environment he lives in, it’s probably not enough to keep him but just throwing that in as a straw to clutch.

It’s a great shame

Top quality player, i am sure he would love to break records at Spurs

Under this Manager and this Chairman he has no chance of winning anything.

It’s clear that there is a huge issue with the manager, there are not many managers that alienate and publicly blame their players as much as Mourinho does. Its boring and wearing thin with the fans so i can imagine the players looking and thinking sod this.

This will not change, and it will cost us our best players, sure some of the squad are mercenaries, but our top players can play for the best teams in the World.

Mourinho is driving this club backwards and Levy has his peddle on the accelerator

Go to Citeh Harry. Win Lots and score even more. You have paid your dues, you should have left 2 Seasons Back instead of hanging around to be ridiculed by all and sundry.

I would not blame Kane one iota for leaving. He has given season after season of world-class performances and the owners of the club have been happy to see him waste his career at a club with no ambition. Son has left mentally I fear and world-class players have world-class ambitions that are not matched by Pound Land business models from ENIC. It is not only about losing world-class players like Son and Kane, it is also our inability and willingness to attract world-class players. ironic how the world-class facilities appear to be not so important to the players.
