As Ange Postecoglou’s season splutters through its final furlongs, our attention turns to what seminal moves will be made in the summer transfer window. This summer will see Spurs linked with many players, primarily because the Aussie has hinted that some of his current personnel are not quite embracing his systems.
Not all Tottenham transfer rumours from January 2024 became a reality, so odds for the other potential transfers have changed in about 65% of online casinos listed on KingCasinoBonus. Here we have a look at what we believe are the more likely picks thrown up by the transfer speculators.
According to a report by talkSPORT, Tottenham wants to bring Kyle Walker-Peters back to the club after selling him four years ago. What’s curious about this one is the player’s age. Walker-Peters came up the ranks at Spurs and was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2017. While he was a part of their senior team for a few years, he failed to establish himself as a regular starter and ended up joining Southampton on a short loan in the winter of 2020. At 27, this would be a move that rather screamed of having made a mistake with the Englishman previously and having run out of ideas at the current time.
What seems far more likely is Ange looking to youth, with less of a chequered past. Miguel Delaney of the Independent claims that Tottenham want to sign Josh Acheampong from Chelsea this summer. The lad is currently a part of the Blues Under-18 setup. During the ongoing campaign, he has been a part of their first-team squad on multiple occasions and was recently handed his first-team debut against Spurs.
The teenager is capable enough to feature anywhere at the back, and his impressive rise has attracted a lot of interest. With Spurs having to field Oliver Skipp (unsuccessfully) at right back against Burnley, this makes far more sense.
Ange Postecoglou wants to add more firepower to his attack, and they are keen on acquiring the services of Sebastian Szymanski. Szymanski has been in exceptional form since joining Fenerbahçe last summer. He has been involved in 52 games for the Turkish outfit and has managed to contribute towards 30 goals. The attacking midfielder has found the back of the net on 12 occasions, and he has a total of 18 assists to his name.
For me, an additional body in defence, and some maturity in midfield would be a great start if a list of potential targets were being comprised.
What we do know, is that Ange has to do something, as this squad is not capable of competing with the big sides.
